Bulgin

When we say Bulgin in our industry, we have all, to a certain extent, “used the name in vain”. Bulgin is the name of the manufacturing company who actually produce thousands of components. In the lighting industry when we refer to a “Bulgin Lead” it has become commonly understood that we are talking about a lead which uses one of the many Bulgin “8-pole” series of connectors. This long established series of connectors from Bulgin still finds many uses where small, but lower current multi-live connections are needed. This Bulgin 8-pole connector has been the standard in our lighting market where transmission of 4 separate lives is required. This can manifest itself in the traditional Mobile DJ 4-channel lighting boxes, or in controlling the on-off switching of 4 lighting effects at a time. The Bulgin 8-pole series is available in a choice of configurations, leads, plugs, boxes and sockets, with current ratings up to 6 Amps per channel. Over the years, evolving legislation and manufacturing improvements have seen new generations of Bulgin 8-pole connectors. On this site, you will see that we have coined the term “Generation 4” to signify the range which has now become the common standard for the industry since 2004.
