WHY WE CHOOSE 5 STAR CASES AS OUR MAIN SUPPLIER:

The Most Recent Developments

Continued growth means major investment...

5 Star Cases Limited have announced their continued growth and commitment to its customers with a major investment into additional CNC machining facilities at its Wisbech site.

The company has been using CNC in its production facilities for almost six years, since its first installation of a Thermwood model 40.

This machine has been the heart of the company's CNC machining systems along with two aluminium extrusion notching saws. Due to continued growth and a healthy order book, a second Thermwood 40 has been ordered with the Indiana, USA based manufacturer and will be installed in mid August. Thermwood was once again chosen for its reliability, after sales service and 'in-house' knowledge of the system.

"This is a major investment for the company but will hopefully demonstrate our commitment to our customers and retain our position as a leading case manufacturer" explains Andy Hudson, 5 Star's Production Manager. "Due to recent investment into 3D CAD/CAM software from Solid Edge, this will enable the machining shop to increase its output and keep up with the demand".

The machine's specifications are almost identical to the existing system, although a five position, spindle-mounted high speed toolchanger in addition to the installed seven tools has been included. The 2.4m x 1.2m table has a high flow vacuum pump that is used for sheet and part hold-down. As with the existing machine, it will be configured with TCP/IP network protocols so the system will form part of the company's network infrastructure. This enables the drawing office to 'send' files directly to the machines.

The machine will be used alongside the existing Thermwood.

Additional 'Hot-Melt' line...

Other recent investments include a third Nordson hot-melt adhesive system. The first Nordson system was installed over eleven years ago and is still in service in the 'Finishing' department. A second machine was installed just over twelve months ago to work alongside the first unit. Nordson, a leader in 'hot-melt' systems and technology was chosen again for its reliability and track record. The third machine, a 'Durablue' system includes air assisted spray and is used in the foam fabrication department. This new installation gives a total of five 'hot-melt' lines throughout the production departments, with two twin and one single head units.
